Morning Clay

About

The studio is one wheel, one kiln and one potter. Rosa started making coffee ware in 2019 after years of throwing dinner sets for restaurants, and the café next door became the test kitchen.

Every form goes through at least three rounds with the baristas before it is sold: a dripper has to pour evenly, a mug has to keep its heat and still fit under a tap. If it fails on the bar it does not go in the shop.

Materials

We use a grogged Westerwald stoneware fired to 1240 °C and glazes mixed in the studio from a short list of raw materials. Nothing is painted on, so nothing can wear off.

Visits

The studio is open on Saturday afternoons. Come and see what is drying on the shelves.
